I do have to say I agree with the comment Ashley made about the strength of your past work being in part based on the depth. This piece feels flat. Is there a reason that you have decided to flatten out the dimension?
I do like the subtle texrure that you are including. Subttly helps us want to stay with the image a little longer.
As far as the color scheme, kind of depends on what mood you are intending to set or how you want our eyes to flow throughout the piece.
